Import / Export Coordinator

Importer

We currently have an exciting opportunity for an Importer to join our team. As an Importer, you will play a crucial role in managing the sourcing, shipping, and logistics of products from suppliers to meet our business needs. Your expertise in international trade regulations, negotiation skills, and supply chain coordination will be instrumental in ensuring timely and efficient product importation. 

This will be a Hybrid role with two days at the office and three days working from home or you can choose to work full-time at the office.

Job Duties:

  • Thoroughly review and verify import documents for accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Facilitate customs clearance processes, either through brokerage services or self-brokerage procedures.
  • Coordinate with the warehouse team to provide necessary documentation for the initial receipt of imported goods.
  • Calculate and document the costing of shipments, considering factors such as customs duties, taxes, and transportation expenses.
  • Arrange and schedule product deliveries with truckers and freight forwarders to ensure timely distribution.
  • Maintain daily correspondence with international suppliers to address inquiries, clarify details, and resolve any potential issues.
  • Process invoices related to import operations and ensure accurate payment.
  • Efficiently close and maintain organized import files for easy retrieval and reference.
  • Establish and update supplier files, maintaining accurate records of communications and agreements.
  • Determine appropriate tariff codes for imported products to ensure proper classification and adherence to regulations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address any challenges and contribute to continuous process improvement.

 

Education and Competencies:

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in Supply Chain
  • Ability to build strong relationships
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented
  • Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving abilities
  • Strong computer skills with an emphasis on MS Office – particularly Excel and PowerPoint
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a strong listening ability
  • Customer service oriented with a sense of priority and purpose
  • Strong numerical aptitude
