Responsibilities
- Perform general ledger accounting functions, including daily cash flow analysis, bank reconciliations, and assist in monthly/quarterly financial statement preparation.
- Prepare and file Canadian and U.S. sales tax returns; ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
- Review vendor contracts and reconcile vendor rebate programs.
- Complete monthly account reconciliations and variance analysis to support financial accuracy.
- Lead the year-end audit preparation, including working papers and responding to auditor inquiries.
- Prepare and complete the year-end income tax review for provincial/state and federal.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives, including ERP system optimization.
- Complete ad hoc projects and tasks as assigned by the Corporate Controller.
Requirements
Education & Experience
- CPA designation.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant corporate accounting experience, ideally within a large or multi-location company, in both Canada and US.
- Experience in a nationwide distribution or construction materials industry is a strong asset.
- Strong understanding of GAAP; experience with ASPE preferred.
Technical Skills
- Advanced proficiency in Excel (including Macros, VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables).
- Experience with ERP systems and an interest in process optimization and automation.
- Familiarity with vendor contracts and rebate management.
- Strong working knowledge of tax compliance and reporting
- Solid understanding of audit processes
