General Labour / Extruder Operator - Plastics

We are a Canadian Owned family business operating in plastics recycling and the city of Cambridge since the 1990's. We are ISO 9001:2015 Registered and are looking for Plastics Granulator Operators for the midnight shift (11:30pm-8am). This position is currently a temporary full-time position with full time hours that could lead to permanent.

MAIN DUTIES:

Operators perform some or all of the following duties:

  • Setup and operate machines which process plastic compounds.
  • Troubleshoot, maintain and make minor repairs to equipment.
  • Monitor quality of material produced.
  • Maintain inventory of material, and clean working area.
  • Load, unload and move products and materials by hand or using basic material handling equipment.
  • Perform other material handling activities such as counting, weighing, sorting, packing an unpacking.
  • Operate devices to load and unload materials onto and off trucks and loading docks of warehouses and industrial establishments.
  • Operate industrial trucks to transport materials to and from transportation vehicles and loading docks and to store and retrieve materials in warehouse area.
  • May perform other activities, such as opening containers and crates, filling warehouse orders, assisting in taking inventory and weighing and checking materials.
  • Complete the expected amount of production.
  • Always work in a safe, responsible manner.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Ability to do physical work at a steady pace.
  • Ability to operate, set up, monitor and maintain machines.
  • Ability to recognize characteristics of different material and adjust work accordingly.
  • Ability to complete production reports.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others.

 

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • No specific educational level required.
  • Some experience in a physically demanding atmosphere preferred.
  • Standard company training required.
  • Forklift competency must be achieved through training and testing.

Ability to speak, read and write English fluently a must, Industrial experience and forklift license and/or experience preferred. Candidates must be comfortable working in an industrial setting, in team as well as individual environments.
